Robbe Atlantis

I haven't found this one on the web yet, although I have seen them sailing and they are impressive. Below is a message I picked up (intercepted) from one of the discussion groups:
The Pica Robbe "Topas" ketch (order #1012) has an aluminum mizzen mast/boom sail set
(parts order #'s 1012 1000 mast, 1012 4000 mizzen sail & 1116 for the boom).

The Atlantis is an impressive boat; I've seen it sailed before at Redd's Pond, in Marblehead,
Mass. The gentleman that built her was of the "meticulous type" and he did an outstanding
job of detailing her. He went to the extent of covering her deck with teak and mahogany
strips and the varnish was of the type provided by the manufacturer…a truly beautiful
 radiosailing yacht!

Sail Control Winches

The 380 is about twice as powerful as the 280 above. (both are 6volt winches)

Whirlwind - £91.91

1) Ozman winch by Ray Ozmun of Huron, OH. (no web page)  windozzie@aol.com
2) M.A.C.K. Sail winches (arm type and screw style) from N.J.)
3) Guyatt Smart from Australia (Drum type)
4)Atlas Whirlwind from UK (Drum Type)
5) Servo sail winches: Futaba S125 and S3801 Cirrus CS-80 servo Airtronics (can't find the number)

Hitec HS-725BB with adjustable drum turn adjustment - $90.00
Weight: 3.88 oz., Size: 1.14"x2.32"x2.05", Torque: 193 oz/inch, Spool Diam. 1.50".
This drum winch is derived from the Hitec 1/4 scale heavy duty servo with many advances
features that provide performance and reliability. Heavy duty gears with ball bearings top and
oilite bottom mount. Provided with a two section spool with a diameter of 1.50". Force
available with this spool is sufficient to control sails with a total area of 1,000 sq./inches. This
winch now available with drum turn adjustment that maybe mounted next to the winch for ease
of access. A maximum of 6 volt Nicad pack may be used.

Comments on Servos used for Sail winches:

Ok, now for some viable servo-winch options. I have list in preference order what I believe are
some good alternatives to the S125. These alternative servo-winches will interface well with the
Maritime Products Control Arm part #MPI 011. Slight modification in drilling a hole or two in
the control mounting area or on the servo mounting horn may be needed. The Cirrus and HiTec
servos should not require any mounting modifications.

Cirrus CS-80 2BBMG @ 6 Volts rated 130 oz-in / .25 sec/60deg. Avg price is $30.00, some
r/c hobby shops are stocking this servo and most can order it with short lead-time.

HiTec HS-615BBMG @ 6 Volts rated 132 oz-in / .18 sec/60deg. Avg price is $40.00,
Cermark Inc 1 800 704 6229, also a great source for 6V battery packs, I recommend 600 to
1000 mah rated batteries for the above application.

Tower Systems 2000 Series TS-71 Super Torque BBMG @ 6 Volts rated 132 oz-in / .18
sec/60deg. Avg price is $40.00, Tower Hobbies 1 800 637 4989. Some hobby shops carry
this servo under the trade name of Hobbico.

Futaba S3801 @ 6 Volts rated 200 oz-in / .22 sec/deg. Avg price is $90.00, a little
overpowered for the Victoria application, its casing size is a bit larger. Tower Hobbies or most
r/c hobby shops.
